Walking & Hiking
Photos and routes from my walking and hiking adventures in Bristol, Somerset and Wiltshire in the UK.
Chatelherault Country Park is a country park in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, Scotland. The name comes from the French town of Châtellerault, which the nearby town of Hamilton is twinned with.
Now the snow has cleared, and I have a few free weekends, I've started doing some walking in Moffat and in the land and gardens surrounding my cottage.
Climbing up Grey Mares Tail near Moffat in the snow and ice, with a completely frozen over Loch Skeen at the top!
Getting back into hill walking following a break by tackling the Criffel, near Dumfries. It was a lot harder than we thought it'd be!
It has been a while since I've been out for a walk, but now I'm self-employed I've got more time to do the things I like, such as walking in the country. Rob and I head off to a frozen Crook Peak, and this time there is a new member of the duo...
Tackling Pen y Fan in preparation for climbing Ben Nevis later in the year, we headed over to South Wales and the Brecon Beacons to do a circular walk covering three peaks and Pen y Fan, the highest peak in South Wales.
I have just realised that I haven't posted any updates from our recent charity climb up Snowdon, so I thought it best to write one now - better late than never!
On Saturday 20th March 2010, my brother-in-law and I set off from Pen-y-pass along the PYG track all the way to the summit of Snowdon. After climbing on, over and through rocks, mud, scree, shale, snow and ice we eventually made it to the top.
