The very name conjures up an image of a land of imposing ice formations, shining glaciers and arctic temperatures. Sparkling fjords, dramatic volcanic peaks, sheer sea cliffs, sweeping golden beaches and crunchy lava flows make up this amazing land of fire and ice.
Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings is an open-air museum of rescued buildings which have been relocated to its site in Worcestershire, England.
Slimbridge wetland and wildlife reserve have a large Bewick swan flock which is world famous. Over winter months you can watch the Bewick's swans feed by floodlight at Slimbridge.
The National Trust are currently undergoing a major conservation project to replace the leaking roof on the 17th-century mansion house at Dyrham Park.
The annual Moffat sheep races celebrate the town's sheep farming and centuries old woollen industry. The event is made possible thanks to local shepherds who train their flocks all year for this event!
Time for a well earned holiday and a trip to Scotland to visit my brother in law at his new house visiting some of the local sights in an area of Scotland which I have not explored before.
