The annual Moffat sheep races celebrate the town's sheep farming and centuries old woollen industry. The event is made possible thanks to local shepherds who train their flocks all year for this event!

In 2014, the knitted jockeys & racing sheep return to Moffat for another fantastic day of racing at the second annual Moffat Sheep Races! At midday, the little knitted jockeys were strapped on tight to the sheep' backs before they were sent charging down the High Street over a series of hurdles and dash over a finish line.

This video shows one race where a dozen sheep race down Moffat High Street with little woollen jockeys made by children at the local schools. Punters can bet on the winner and all money raised go to charity.
