A fine family day out at Dartmoor Zoological Park to visit our adopted Tiger and to see some of the other big cats which provided an opportunity to get close to the animals for some good photographic shots.

Although most of the animals were behind steel fencing, my little FujiFilm F70 EXR was able to get close enough to look through the holes in the fence, and the 10x optical zoom proved very useful in getting close-ups of the big cats. With the natural surroundings and minimal enclosure fencing, there are lots of excellent opportunities for big cat photography.

You can view more pictures in my Big Cat gallery.

Set in 33 acres of beautiful woodland with some stunning views of the surrounding countryside, Dartmoor Zoological Park is a unique family owned zoo with a fantastic collection of animals. The animals here include tigers, lions, jaguar, lynx and cheetah (the largest collection of big cats in the region), bears, wolves, tapir, capybara, racoons, meerkats, monkeys, a fantastic collection of bugs and reptiles and much more.
