Pisces is a zodiac constellation which lies between Aquarius to the east and Aries to the west.

Location: Northern Autumn 1h RA 15° Dec

The Vernal equinox is currently located in Pisces, due south of ω Psc, and, due to precession, slowly drifting below the western fish towards Aquarius. Pisces contains only one galaxy listed in Charles Messier's catalogue, M74.

Pisces Mythology

According to one version in Greek mythology, this constellation represents fish into which Aphrodite and her son Eros transformed to escape the monstrous Typhon. The two fishes are often depicted tied together with a cord (or their tails), to make sure they do not lose one another.

Pisces Deep Space Objects

M74 is a loosely wound (type Sc) spiral galaxy in Pisces. It has many clusters of young stars and the associated nebulae show extensive regions of star formation.

NGC 520 is a pair of colliding galaxies located 90 million lightyears away.
