Cheddar Caves & Gorge

Cheddar Gorge is a limestone gorge in the Mendip Hills, near the village of Cheddar, Somerset, England. The gorge contains 1/4-mile of cathedral-like caverns, carved out over a million years by Ice-Age meltwaters, leading to the magnificent Diamond Chamber and Solomon's Temple. The million-year-old river bed (with an active river still flowing beneath it), was home to Stone Age man and discovered by Richard Gough in 1890.
